Chile 73
Welcome . Bienvenidas
On September 11th 1973, members of the U.S. National Swim Team and their coaches were caught in the middle of the Chilean Revolution.  The US team was invited by the Chilean Swimming Federation, Chile’s head coach, and Peace Corps Volunteer Mark Lautman to spend a week running stroke clinics and sightseeing.
The day before the U.S. team was to return home, Chilean and US swimmers were finishing their final training session - blocks from the Presidential Palace - when the Chilean Army attacked, unleashing three days of heavy urban combat.
We have created this site to reconnect and share our memories, stories and photographs with each other.
